Rain Couldn't Stop the Mission: Rural Gone Urban Foundation Raises More Than $17,000 at Annual Golf Tournament
Perkins, Okla. – A rainy Saturday didn’t slow down the Rural Gone Urban Foundation’s annual Gone Golf Open tournament, where supporters showed up in full force to raise more than $17,000 (NET) for no-gpa-required scholarships for gritty, hardworking rural students; small business marketing grants, and financial support for women navigating a cancer diagnosis.
Leah Beyer (founding board member), Brooke Taylor (founding board chair), Elisa McAlister (golf chair)
Held at Cimarron Trails Golf Club, the tournament brought together 24 teams and 22 volunteers, all committed to the Foundation’s mission of investing in brave and strong women.
“When a storm arises — literally or figuratively — we have a choice: run or face it,” said Brooke Taylor, founder of the Rural Gone Urban Foundation. “Bison do what any of us hope we’d do — they turn into the storm. And in doing so, they weather it faster. That’s the spirit we champion, and it was on full display this weekend.”
Serving as this year’s tournament chair was Elisa McAlister, who said leading the event is one of her favorite roles all year.
"There’s just something about this event," McAlister said. "The mission is incredible, the course is great to work with, and our teams show up with top-tier vibes every single time. Rain or shine, you can feel the heart behind it all."
