Tips For Hosting an Individual Fundraiser for the Rural Gone Urban Foundation
To host an individual fundraiser you need the “want to.” Simply, a passion to make action. Perhaps you’ve endured an ordeal where the community surrounded you with meals, financial support, transportation, and/or love. Or, alternatively, maybe Brooke or a board member influenced your life for the better?
Whatever your reason, start small.
Example: Book Club FUNDRAISER
Choose a book to read during a particular month
Pre-determine a weekly evening meetup for people to meet and discuss.
Choose a local coffee shop, or a favorite restaurant, for your meeting location
Request a weekly donation ($5, $10, or $15 dollars, for example) during each weekly book review.
You can pass the hat for cash and make one donation on behalf of the group, or each individual can make an online donation. Use the additional information field to notate it goes to your fundraiser (ex., May Book Club for Rural Gone Urban Foundation)
Invite, invite, invite. Use Facebook events, Meet-Up.com, or even email.
Optional: dedicate your donation to a woman in your life who is battling cancer, a young woman in college (B Scholarship program), or one who needs a small business grant.
Example: Hiking Fundraiser
Are you ready to join Hike it for Rural Gone Foundation?
Ask others to sponsor you in hiking 25 miles during a predetermined timeline. Example: April 5 - April 30.
Ask your supporters to show their support by donating online. In the additional information field direct people to include your name and fundraiser name. That’s it, so simple!
Then, go to your favorite social media channel and begin talking about it. Here’s an example: “Hey everyone! In April I’m challenging myself to hiking 25 miles to benefit the Rural Gone Urban Foundation. Please support me and follow my __________ account for updates as I complete the challenge.”
Start small, build on small successes, keep your eye on the ball and remember you are investing in strong women doing extraordinary things!
Go forth and do great things!
