Rural Gone Urban Foundation Hires Katie WIlson: Virtual Assistant Project Manager

Katie Wilson

The Rural Gone Urban Foundation, Inc., which launched in 2022 to support strong women doing brave things through scholarships and grants, welcomes Katie Wilson as a contract virtual assistant and project manager.

"As our organization grows so does our need for administrative needs and project management.” said Brooke Taylor, board chair. “Katie knows rural America, the passion of launching a business, and how to keep an organization on track.”

In her previous role as a business manager, dance instructor, and music editor at the Okinawa School of Performing Arts, Katie was the epitome of logistics coordinator and visionary.

As the creator behind the brand Zoey Kate, Katie knows first-hand the passion and drive needed to launch a brand.

As a military spouse, Katie knows, intimately, the importance of prioritizing family while also working remotely.

“I’m equally delighted and relieved to have Katie on board,” Taylor shared. “Launching the Foundation in the midst of an allegedly incurable cancer diagnosis was and is a dream come true. Knowing we’ve already grown to the point of needing consistent help is a wonderful problem.”

Katie’s role will include administrative and project management support, which will ultimately insure the Foundation’s respective committees - love bombs, scholarships, small business, communications, and fundraising - are working toward our mission of supporting strong women doing brave things.

Stephanie Gibbs, Board Memeber

Stephanie Sharp Gibbs, vice chair, is a graduate of Perkins, Oklahoma, where, in the sixth grade, she and Brooke started a lifelong friendship thanks to neighboring lockers.

The expense of higher education prevented Stephanie from taking a direct path to a degree, so instead, she earned a cosmetology license following high school. She worked behind the chair at a Stillwater salon until setting her shears down in 2013 to attend nursing school. With that foundation in health, wellness, and helping others feel their best, Stephanie launched Flourish & Fitness and Tulsa Blooms, businesses that combine her passions for encouraging people to flex their minds and move their bodies.
