Our Girl, Ashley Crews

Ashley and her boys.

Ashley Crews was more than just a beloved member of our Rural Gone Urban Foundation community; she was a vibrant force of joy, creativity, and resilience.

Personally, it still wrecks me she’s no longer in the trenches of the surviorship slash active treatment chaos with me. Simply, I miss her.

I miss her calls where we’d problem solve website issues with her family’s direct sales beef business.
I miss hearing her light up talking about her boys.
I miss her honest hot takes about the jackwagon Cancer.
I miss feeling seen by my Oklahoma State loving, cancer hating, entrepreneur friend.

From a Foundation standpoint, her presence has left a ginormous gap. She was one of our very first volunteers and served selfishly on our love bombs and gala committees. In fact, she was still joining planning calls and participating in group chats only a few weeks before she graduated to heaven.

I’m better because I knew her.

Born on ‘81, in rural Boise City, OK, (pop. 1,141) Ashley’s early love for trucks, tractors, and singing laid the foundation for a life filled with passion. Whether cheering for her beloved Oklahoma State Cowboys or nurturing her family, Ashley embraced every moment with an open heart. As a lifelong educator and devoted mother, Ashley faced her own battle with cancer with remarkable strength. In June 2021, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, but she never let it define her spirit. Instead, she leaned into her faith, her family, and her love for design, even starting a home staging business during her journey.

In December 2023, we had the honor of gifting Ashley a Love Bomb to create memories with her husband, Brock, and their two sons. That time was precious, allowing her to find joy amidst the challenges she faced. Her unwavering positivity and determination to live life to the fullest were truly inspiring.

Today, we celebrate Ashley not just as a woman on a mission to take down cancer with her but also as a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.

Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
